What's New in Version 2020.01 - Specify a Default Snooze Length for Popup Reminders and Desktop Alerts

Version 2020.01 adds the ability to specify a default snooze length for popup reminders and desktop alerts. The specified snooze length will be selected by default the first time a reminder appears for the associated event or task. After snoozing a reminder, it will reappear again after the specified amount of time has passed.

Depending on the type of event or task, you might want to snooze for different amounts of time. For example, a birthday event could have a reminder that appears 7 days in advance, so you can remember to buy a gift or send a card. You might want to snooze that event for 1 day. However, a meeting could have a reminder that appears 15 minutes before the starting time. You might want to snooze that reminder for 5 minutes by default.

In the previous version, the default snooze length was always 15 minutes, regardless of the type of event or task. If you wanted to snooze for a different amount of time, you'd need to manually type in the desired time or select from the snooze length drop-down list before clicking the Snooze button. When the reminder reappears, it will remember how long it was previously snoozed and use that length of time as the default for subsequent snoozing. However, selecting that initial snooze length for each reminder could become a tedious chore if you have a busy schedule with many new reminders popping up.

Now in version 2020.01, you can specify the default snooze length when creating the event or task, via a Default snooze drop-down list that has been added to the settings under Show a Popup Reminder and Show a Desktop Alert.

If you're using the Pro or Ultimate version, you can save the selected snooze length as a default. This can be done by clicking the Save as Defaults button at the top of the Event Editor or via the Event Defaults tab in the Calendar Properties window. To access the Calendar Properties window, double-click the calendar's name in the calendar list.

Each calendar can have its own default snooze length, which will be automatically applied to reminders for new events or tasks that are associated with that calendar. In other words, if you keep your schedule organized by associating different types of events and tasks with different calendars (such as "Birthdays" and "Meetings"), you can select a different default snooze length for each of those calendars.
