What's New in Version 2020.01 - Create New Events with Default Starting Times That Don't Conflict with Other Events

Version 2020.01 improves the default starting time for events that are created on the Month view when the Calendar Properties have been configured with Auto as the default event starting time on the Month view.

In the previous version, events created on the current day would default to the top of the next hour based on the current time. Events created on other dates would default to the work day starting time specified in the Work Day Options. These default times would be be selected regardless of whether there were conflicts with other events occurring at the same time. Of course, a different time can be selected when editing the event, but that requires additional clicks and you'd need to first search for a time that doesn't conflict.

In the example below, a date already has an event occurring at the specified starting time (8:00 AM). When a new event was created using the previous version, the event would default to 8:00 AM despite there being a conflict.

Version 2020.01 improves this by automatically finding a default time that doesn't have any conflicts (if possible) with other events that are associated with the same calendar.

For example, if your work day starts at 8:00 AM and events default to having a duration of 1 hour, when you double-click a date that doesn't have any previously created events, the new event time will default to 8:00-9:00 AM. When you double-click again on the same date, the new event will default to 9:00-10:00 AM. Double-click again, and the new event will default to 10:00-11:00 AM, and so on.

This feature makes it easier to find an open time slot for new events. Instead of needing to switch to the Day or Week view to see where there are conflicts, a non-conflicting time will be selected by default.
