Overview
How to get here...
- Click the "Action" tab in the Event Editor, and then check the box labeled "Open a program, file, or URL".
- Click the "Reminder" tab in the Task Editor, and then check the box labeled "Open a program, file. or URL".
Events and tasks can be configured to run a program, open a file, or open a website URL in your default web browser. To enable this action, check the "Open a program, file, or URL" box on the Action tab of the Event Editor or Reminder tab of the Task Editor. This action will occur at the event or task starting time.
Run a Program
To run a program at the event or task starting time, click the "Run a program" option and then specify the program file name and any optional parameters.

Executable
- Type the full path and location of the program, or use the "..." button to browse for it.
- Click the drop-down button to select a previously specified program name.
Parameters
- You can also specify parameters to pass to the program.
- For example, if you'd like a certain file to be opened by a program, specify the file path and name as a parameter.
- The parameters are dependent on the program being executed, so consult its documentation to learn what parameter values can be passed.
Preview
- If you'd like to preview the program execution, click the Preview button. This will attempt to launch the program.
- You can use the Preview button to test that the program will correctly execute when the event or task starting time is reached.
Open a File or Document
To open a document at the event or task starting time, click the "Open a file or document" option and then specify the document file name, including the full path.

Document
- Type the full path and location of a document, or use the "..." button to browse for it.
- This can be any type of document, as long as a program is registered to open the specified file type.
- Click the drop-down button to select a previously specified document name.
Preview
- If you'd like to preview opening the document, click the Preview button.
- You can use the Preview button to test that the document will correctly open when the event or task starting time is reached.
Open a Web Page URL
To open a web page at the event or task starting time, click the "Open a web page URL" option and then specify the URL to be opened.

Web page URL
- Type the URL to open, or use the "..." button to select a bookmark used by Internet Explorer.
- Click the drop-down button to select a previously specified URL.
Preview
- If you'd like to preview opening the web page, click the Preview button.
- You can use the Preview button to test that the URL will correctly open when the event or task starting time is reached.
