Contacts Sync with Google

I just downloaded and installed a trial version of Ultimate 11.1.0.
I have a slight problem with syncing contacts.
- When I add a contact in Google it gets added to ViewMinder. This is OK.
- When I add a contact in ViewMinder it gets added to Google. This is OK.
- When I delete the just added contact in Google it does not get deleted on ViewMinder. This is not OK.
- When I delete the just added contact in ViewMinder it does not get deleted on Google. This is not OK.
- When I delete the just added contact in ViewMinder it gets deleted in ViewMinder for several seconds, then it re-appears. This is not OK.

Are there some settings that need to be "adjusted"?

Hi Sam, welcome to the forums. VueMinder will sync new or modified contacts. Deletions won't sync. This is to prevent possible data loss if syncing goes awry. I don't want to take any chances of contacts being deleted when they shouldn't be!

The workaround is to delete the contact from both VueMinder and Google Contacts. If this is a big issue for you I could add an option to sync deletions, with a "user beware" disclaimer.

It is not a big issue, but to me, a mistaken change is the same as a mistaken delete.
I like your idea of an option to sync deletions, with a "user beware" disclaimer.

In any case, mistakes can be recovered from the backup, can't they?

Hi Sam, I'll add an option to sync contact deletions and will post a reply when this is available. You are correct, deleted contacts could be recovered from a backup.

With this in mind I'd be really grateful for the option of one-way contact syncing like we have for the calendars.

Hi IngeJones, thanks for the feedback. I'll add an option for 1-way syncing as well.

Also, just to be clear, contact deletions won't sync by default. This will be a new option that needs to be specifically enabled. Otherwise it will work as it does now - which as far as I'm aware has not resulted in any contacts being deleted when they shouldn't be.

I probably will choose to enable deletion syncing, but I want to regard one side as the "master" side.

Version 2017.00 adds an option to sync contact deletions with Google Contacts. It also adds the ability to change the sync direction to 1-way. See the page linked below for more details:
