unexpected packet format

I just installed my upgrades and now I am getting this when it is scheduled for reminders

"An error occurred while attempting to send an email for event "what reminder I scheduled" The handshake failed due to an unexpected packet format"

What can I do to fix this...

Hi Aubint, please open the Email Settings and change the port to 465. Also make sure the box labeled "Use SSL" is checked. Click the "Send a Test Email" button to test the updated settings. If you still get an error, change the port to 587 and uncheck the "Use SSL" box. Does that fix it?

Thanks! Changing ports worked for me. I don't understand why, since the other worked for a long time, but I'm glad to be back up. It was strange that there was no search result when I looked up the term "packet" in the help section of the website.
